"Wasted $250+ on language apps over 2 years, Babbel, Rosetta, Pimsleur, Duolingo Plus. The DopaSpeak was the smartest investment I made. Three languages on one license, all offline, no data leaving my phone."

Why DopaSpeak is unlike Duolingo, Babbel, or Rosetta Stone
The category leaders all share three problems: cloud-only AI (your data leaves your phone), endless subscriptions (you pay forever), and gamified vocabulary that doesn't produce real listening confidence. DopaSpeak does the opposite on all three.
On-device AI
Google Gemma runs locally on your phone. No cloud calls, no listening history sent to servers. Your learning lives on your device.
No upsell pop-ups. Ever.
DopaSpeak is free to use. No upgrade nags, no premium paywalls, no locked features. Everything is available from day one.
Free to use
No subscription needed. Bring your own API key (e.g. Gemini with free quota) or download the on-device Gemma model (~3 GB). No payment to us, ever.
How DopaSpeak teaches a language
Pick songs you already love
From your Spotify, Apple Music, or YouTube Music library. The AI auto-detects the language and prepares decoding.
Word-by-word decoding
Below every foreign word: literal English, grammar role, pronunciation hint. The Natural Decoding Method made visible.
Active then passive listening
Active mode with the decoded text on screen. Then passive mode while commuting, working out, cooking. The melody locks vocabulary in.
20 languages: all offline, all on one license
European: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Dutch, Swedish, Greek. Asian: Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Hindi. Middle Eastern: Turkish, Arabic. Most learners use 2–3 languages on one free download. Aljoscha runs Spanish, Japanese, French in parallel. Ron runs English, Korean, French. Vivian runs French and Korean.
What "no data collection" actually means
Most language apps' privacy policies fit on 30 pages because there's a lot to disclose. Ours fits on two. The on-device AI (Google Gemma) processes your language learning entirely on your phone, what you decode, when you decode, which songs you import, never reaches our servers. We use the App Store / Google Play account systems for purchases (handled by them, not us). We collect aggregate crash reports (anonymized) and that's it. No advertising IDs sold, no profiling, no behavioral data brokered. GDPR-ready by default because we're a German-built app, but the privacy benefits apply everywhere, including to US users worried about CCPA, COPPA, or general data brokerage. If a free language app makes money, you're the product. DopaSpeak is free to use and does not sell your data. No middleman.
Language learning apps in the US: subscription fatigue meets data anxiety
Americans collectively spend over $4 billion annually on language learning. The market leaders, Duolingo, Babbel, Rosetta Stone, all run on cloud AI that processes your microphone, your typing, and your learning history on their servers. Combined with the post-2020 awareness of data brokerage and surveillance, US adult learners increasingly look for privacy-first alternatives. Subscription fatigue is the second axis: Babbel charges free forever, Rosetta Stone charges $11.99/month or $299 for one language, Duolingo Plus is $13/month with ads on the free tier. DopaSpeak inverts this: free to use for all 20 languages, own API key or on-device model, no subscription. After that, it's free forever, including all future language additions and on-device AI updates. For the privacy axis, the on-device Google Gemma model means your microphone data, listening history, and decoded songs never leave your phone. GDPR-ready by default (built in Germany), which translates into stronger user protections than CCPA requires. For US heritage learners (22M Hispanic, 5M Asian-American, 1M Korean-American), this combination of music-driven decoding plus on-device AI plus free model is uniquely positioned.
Three plans. No hidden tiers.
DopaSpeak is free to use: no subscription, no account, no ads. Bring your own API key or download a local model once.
What our beta team says about DopaSpeak
"My data stays on my phone, that was the main reason for me to switch. Plus the AI actually decodes at my level, not 'beginner clicky-fun' like the green-owl app."
"Three languages on one free access, all running offline on my phone. That's the model I've been waiting for."
From the founder
"It started with a Spanish song. I was in the car, hearing a track I didn't understand, but I wanted to. Not tomorrow, not after 200 days of Duolingo streak. Now. School English never worked for me, vocabulary apps even less. I just wanted to understand what that one artist was singing.
DopaSpeak is the app I would have needed back then. You pick the music you love, and the AI on your phone breaks it down for you, word by word. No cloud, no data leaks. Just you, your song, and your brain.
We're building DopaSpeak in Germany, GDPR-compliant, because I want my daughter Ruby Mae to one day learn languages with her favorite music, without her data being sold."
