Do I need an internet connection?
In on-device mode (Gemma model, approx. 3 GB one-time download) the AI runs locally on your phone and your text never leaves your device. In cloud mode you connect directly to the AI provider of your choice (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Claude, or OpenRouter) using your own API key. Music playback and previously downloaded content also work without an internet connection.

What devices are supported?
Currently Android devices with at least 6 GB of RAM. For optimal performance, we recommend 8+ GB RAM. An iOS version is planned.
How does learning through music work?
You paste a song link or enter the artist and title. DopaSpeak fetches the lyrics automatically, splits them into verses, and decodes each line word by word. You learn the language through music you love, emotionally anchored and deeply motivating.
Is there a mandatory subscription?
No. DopaSpeak is free to use. You bring your own AI access: either a free-tier API key from Google Gemini, OpenAI, Claude, or OpenRouter, or you download a local Gemma model (approx. 3 GB) that runs on-device without any recurring cost. There is no subscription required to use the app.
What happens to my data when I use DopaSpeak?
DopaSpeak has no tracking, no analytics, and no ad servers. In on-device mode your text is processed entirely on your phone and never leaves your device. In cloud mode your text goes directly to the AI provider you have chosen (e.g., Google Gemini or OpenAI) using your own API key. Your data is never sent to DopaSpeak servers. DopaSpeak is built in Germany to EU privacy standards (GDPR).
